Henry started martial arts training at Bradford University in 1973 in Shotokan Karate and was graded to 3rd Kyu by Enoeda Sensei (KUGB). He also studied Wing Tsun Kung Fu with Sifu simon Lau and obtained a lower rank certificate (No 187).

His interest in Yoshinkan Aikido began in October 2000 when he started to train at the Meidokan under Rubens Sensei. In December 2004 he started training at the Stafford Dojo under Savery Sensei and was awarded Shodan (1st Dan) & level 6 (Dai Roku) instructor certificates in 2008 by Crawford Sensei the head instructor of the Goryukai. He was awarded Nidan (2nd Dan) & level 5 (Dai Go) instructor certificates by Miranda Sensei of the Seikeikan in 2010.

Henry has attended a considerable number of seminars and in 2010 he travelled to Japan and was presented with his 2nd Dan/Dai Go certificates by Yasuhisa Shioda Kancho at Honbu Dojo. He also took the opportunity to train at Honbu as well as visiting the dojo’s of  Payet Shihan & Ando Shihan.

In both 2011 & 2012 he travelled to Sacramento in California and attended seminars conducted by Amos Parker Shihan. On both occasions he was privileged to attend private training sessions held by Miranda Sensei and Amos Parker Shihan.

Henry Pielacki – Yondan - Principal Instructor

Henry was awarded Sandan (3rd Dan) and level 4 (Dai Yon) Instructor certificates during Miranda Sensei's visit to Goryukan Belper in 2013. This gives him the authority to grade to Shodan(1st Dan), give recommendations for instructor certification (level 6/Dai Roku) and write references for those wishing to open a new dojo.

In April of 2014 he visited Aikido London (Ontario, Canada) the Dojo of Ashley Hennessy Sensei (6th Dan AYF). Henry was promoted to 5th Kyu in Shin Arashi Ryu Kenjutsu by Hennessy Sensei during his visit to Goryukan Belper in June of 2015.

Miranda Sensei made further visits in September of 2014 & 2015 to Goryukan Belper. Henry was promoted to Yondan (4th Dan) and level 3 (Dai San) Instructor during the latter of these. This gives him further authority to grade up to Nidan (2nd Dan) and level 5 (Dai Go) instructor.
